The animation comes from the intersection of television, sleep and memory. Made by hand from images drawn from advertisements, music videos, news broadcasts and other television material, it develops through short sequences that are isolated, repeated and recomposed.
The flow of television and channel switching becomes a passage between what is seen and what remains in memory: images overlap, return and progressively lose their legibility. Rather than constructing a narrative, the work creates a condition of continuous exposure, in which repetition takes on the structure of a nightmare.
“Ionic Charge Gives Immortality” is taken from 5.45 by Gang of Four, a 1979 post-punk song reflecting on the relationship between war, information and the media representation of violence.
